In December 1962, Heat "exchangers" were introduced. Air was heated for use in the cabin by passing air over heated compartments instead of directly passing air that has cooled the engine into the passenger compartment.

Do you always need to pull the engine to fix an oil leak?? Or to check for where the oil leak is coming from??

When you use the word "always" in your question, the answer is easy...No:)
Before I give you some tips I'll tell you what my motorhead buddy that's helping me with my bus told me last week.
He said to me with a serious straight face "you have a real serious problem here that I can't explain!". As my heart sunk and my jaw dropped to the ground, I thought to myself oh shit, he said "your bus doesn't seem to be leaking any oil, how odd". Man I wanted to smack him upside the head:)
Anyway, the first thing that I would do is (your bus is running right?) Crawl under and take a good look. You should be able to see if the  valve cover gaskets are leaking (oil will be dribbling down on the heat exchangers) as well as the oil drain plug and/or any part of the strainer cover (even the little bolts can have a tell tail drip on them. If the front main seal is leaking you will see oil coming out the bottom between the engine and tranny as there is no gasket there at all. If the rear main is leaking you will see oil below the pulley (I think), if you stick your head in and look at the tin below the pulley. I think that's the easy stuff.
The next thing to look for is a leaky pushrod tube seal and that takes a little doing as you need to take off the tin that protects them, though that's not really hard.
OK, let's say that you crawled under the bus to find a bunch of oily goo all over everything as things have been leaking for some time, and it looks like oil is leaking most everywhere and you are frustrated as to where it's really coming from. Go to a car wash place and powerwash the underside as best you can. When you get home take a quick look under there and see what you can see. Gee, we're not talking a bad leak here in the first place right? Anyway, put a piece of cardboard on the ground and let the drips fall where they may for the night (and hopefully it will take longer than just one night Smiley). Then look above the spots and follow the trail of oil till you find the culprit.
Now to fix some of these problems, yes you need to pull the engine:) But fear not, it's not that hard, and once you do it the first time you'll be able to do it anytime:)...Oly

Check the pushrod tubes and oil cooler too.  Oil cooler is on the driver side, just behind (as in towards the back of the bus) the #4 cylinder, so look for oily metal and drips under the left rear side of the engine (again, rear is towards the rear of the bus Tongue ).
