When I was doing the wiper shaft replacement on the bus, I had to remove the ducts for the defroster. I found inside them what looks like balls of insulation (rat nests?). I have been plagued with a lack of air flow and I am now thinking that this is the cause. I haven't checked Bentley yet, but does anybody have an idea as to how I could go about cleaning out any blockages? I have read that using a air hose works well, but at the moment my compressor is in storage and I really don't want to haul it all the way back across town to the house just for this.

How about a shop vac? Either start just in front of the engine if accessible, or snake a car vac accessory to a shop vac down the tube. We can check it out next week if you can wait.
I can use the exhaust of my shop vac for a blower that I have found very handy.

Sounds good Busaholic. I don't have a shop vac, just hope the drive down isn't too cold.

I have a couple of questions to add to this thread. 1. just how much air flow should there be? I can put my hand on the defrost vent and feel heat coming out but very little air flow. And I don't recall anything coming out of the vents on the dash. Winnie did sit for several years and I've found about 40 small bee nests in the nooks and crannies when I got her so I have the feeling that there very well be some blockage in the duct work. 2. Whats the concertina hose? And I have one heck of a blower! It will push bricks along the pavement

Hey oly, the vents on the dash are only fresh air. Heat comes out the kick panel vents and the defrost.
If there is something in that hose and you blow from back of the bus to front, then it will get lodged in your defrost ducts or if you have them off it will end up all over your bus. yuck!!!! I think I am going to plan on lugging the air compressor over and running the hose from the dash down to the back. Hopefully that will work it out.

That's why i like to use a shop vac.... no mess...... $39.00 at Home Depot... http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100592175&N=10000003+90401+524502 You can feed the hose from the rear underneath all the way to the front cleaning as it goes along......
