HI ALL!  Bought a kewl new grease gun.  Hooked it up and squirted it in but it oooozed out where the fitting attaches and/or where the round thingy screws onto the grease gun tube.  Even when I tightened it as best I could.

I took the fitting off and tested it and grease flows through it fine.

Betty was jacked up off the ground, both front wheels.

I only tried the center fitting and wanted to check with you all to see if the couple pumps that "may" have gone in is all I needed to do.  I thought I was to see OLD grease exit somewhere...I was born in 1973 and maybe I don't have the genetics for greasing as most cars moved away from this messy job around then  .

What was the question.....?        ......................I think your asking should you see old grease come out from the center.........if it's the center pin you greased then yes.....pump until you see fresh come out ..... I usually push all old out until i see new grease.....on each joint....

Sounds like the passage is clogged. I think happy is saying he took the grease zert out and it flowed through it but when installed it leaks from between the grease gun and zert fitting.

Sometimes if you don't enough pressure on the connection between the gun and the zert then it will leak out from in between the two.

The only place grease was coming out was the joint where the grease gun tube screws into the longer metal end that fits over the fitting.  I tightened it like crazy too! 

Hmmmmm.  I just wonder if any grease went in.

unscrew that connection and see if there should be an "o" ring there.

Have you pulled the grease fitting off and checked for clogging? They tend to get grease and dirt in there that creates a blockage.

Your grease may have dried out. A hand gun may not be able to push it. Try an oil change place with an automatic grease gun. That may be able to push it through, grease on a regular basis after or it will plug up again.

HAHAHAHA!  MY TONGUE WAS ALL STICKING OUT TO THE SIDE TOO!  I REMEMBER!  HAHAHAHAHA

What a pain in the ass it was trying to get the grease to go in...and the more I tried...the greasier my hands and the gun got.  I was all like DANG!

Bill:  Love that idea.  I will bring my Bentley so they will see where the fittings are.  But I am not so sure I trust anyone to put her on a lift.  Don't the wheels have to be off the ground to grease...or is that just with a hand gun?

If your Bus doesn't have frame rot it'll go up a lift just fine. Another thing that works is a propane torch, heat the area around the fitting, get it hot and keep trying to push grease through while heating. The trick is to melt the hard grease in the axle and pump while the area is as hot as you can get it with propane. I have done this many times, with an oxy/acetylene torch, on neglected heavy equipment. Keep the flame from heating and melting dust boots and bushings.

No frame rot...that I can see.  Just that surface rust in some spots.  I am ascared of torches and all things that spit fire.  I think your first idea was best for me.  I will find a nice gentle garage with a VERY old man working there and let him grease my axle.  I bet it will be a trip down memory lane  .  Might even be a tear or two!  hehehehe
