Ever taken 70 up the Feather River? If not, that should be one of your first Bus Excursions. Awesome drive.

WOW! What a great video! It gives me a lot of ideas. The back of my Kombi doesn't look THAT big, though.... but I know it will obviously work.
DJ... Ugh.. I HATE that drive. We went up to Bucks Lake just before Labor Day and I don't think I would want to take the Bus up there yet. Someday, I'm sure

I mean the drive starting after the Buck lake area, like Belden and beyond. Up in the PG&E waterworks. Nature and technology at their finest and most powerful. And an excellent place for busing. Cool canyon, winding road, incredible scenery, huge spooky trains to camp near and explore at night....

Sounds good, DJ....
Is it as winding as 70 is below Quincy?

Ahh, maybe we are talking about the same thing... 70 between lake oroville and Quincy. I love those kinds of roads.

so what makes it a kombi and not a deluxe?
Kombi is a body style, Deluxe is a trim level. A kombi is an empty bus with all the "normal" windows. A deluxe is a kombi with fancy stuff like seats, ashtrays and chrome. Also, a Transporter is a kombi with seats, a Westfalia is a converted kombi (until '74, when they modified the body just for Westfalia).

If you have a '71 deluxe, it will have 3" holes in the metal behind the front seats. No holes? No deluxe. These were from the rear cabin fresh air vents.
