Hi everyone... new to the forum, but a longtime VW afficianado....

Yesterday, I got a 1973 VW Kombi Bus... the one that's a camper without the pop-up roof.  I need to do a lot to it, like a tune-up!

Anyway, the passenger area is totally empty.  No seats, no sink, no floor (except the metal floor, of course).  I want to restore it and am wondering if anyone has access to floor plans, or interior photos?  I want to get an idea of what I can do with it?  I have attached a picture!

Thanks for the Welcome!

This is my first Bus/Kombi in about 23 years.  I had one for a very short time in '84 (okay, it was my dad's and it developed some problems). My first 2 cars were '66 and '64 Bugs (which shared the same '69 engine... just took the engine out of the first and put it in the second), then the Bus.... after 15 years of driving domestic cars, got a 2002 Jetta and now have a 2006 Jetta.  But to have a REAL VW again is great :-)

My wife saw it for sale and insisted I buy it.  Now the fun is going to start.  I looked at some others on ebay and figure to start with, I will get 2 bench seats and have them face each other... and have a pop up table between them.  If I want to go to a full restore down the road, or build new shleves and storage, I can do that too... but I need to get her up to snuff mechanically first!

I am in Northern California... born and raised in New Jersey, though!

As an aside, my dad was a Volkswagen Certified Air-Cooled Specialist back in the '50's through the early '70's.  He hasn't seen one of these in years (pretty rare to find old VWs in Jersey these days) and he just walked me through a few things over the phone.  I need to change and adjust some bushings under the stick shift... he walked me through the engine, too.  He said he still has a bunch of his old VW tools that he'll pack up and send out to me.

We also had a Chilton's manual here in the house... don't know why... so I can tune her up myself!

To quote a certain fast food outfit: "I'm lovin' it!"

Nice!  Good to have connections in the family.

Where @ in Nor Cal?  I'm a native San Francisconian, recently transplanted to Eugene, OR.  You should get that bus camperfied and join us on an outing someday!

I'm in Orland... up I-5 between Willows and Corning (one hour south of Redding).  Did I mention I got this for $500.00?

Welcome aboard Del. Nice looking bus you got there, great price too. I can't wait to see what you do with that interior. My 72 has a similar dilemma that I haven't quite dealt with properly. I made an impromptu bed to go camping with over the summer but with funds the way they are it will stay the way it is for the foreseeable future.
