Only made it one hour into the trip when the driverside windshield wiper fell off. Now I have two broken windshield wipers because I tried to take the passengerside off and use it. The bus is about a half of an hour away from my sisters house. Her husband and my brother came and picked us up, but it was snowing too hard to drive the bus back. Hope to be able to pick it up tomorrow. My sisters computer sucks, so I won't say much more.
But does anybody know what size and threads the bolts for the wiper arms are? Or are the actually studs? Couldn't tell in the dark.

The wiper arms push on a serrated surface. The stud has a nut that I seem to recall is the same thread as an oil strainer nut. I believe an ordinary metric nut will work.

Well the studs broke off at the base, so I'm going to have to get a whole new armature.

Ouch! If you replace the whole assembly, lube everything real well. Never seen this happen, what a PIA. Good luck!

I'll probably be hitting the junk yards tomorrow, if they are open. I think that I'll need all the luck I can get.

Yeah the trip was going so well too. I had adjusted my valves and reset the timing yesterday and with the cool weather Willoughby was running better than ever. I was able to go 70+ uphill without any problems. But so is life, we spent the night with my sister and got up this morning and drove back to the Wal-Mart that we left him at last night. Everything was still there, he fired right up and made the trip to my sisters house without a hitch. We spent the rest of Thanksgiving day with my sister and her family. Cita and I are getting ready to leave to head home soon, when we get there I'll post some pics of my Willy in the snow.hehehehe.

ha, yah I have had many dealings with my, of course "Drivers-side" Wiper... The 68's are a one of a kind deal... I have had mine on, off , replaced the screw- this all happened after I replaced the wipers and put new ones on. Which in turn have more gripping action as they sway back and fourth and stripped out the shaft... Needless to say it is and has been working for about 6 months, I am not going to be touching it again ... I considered a few times being stuck in the rain, applying rainX welding it on there... .gif)

We searched three different stores, including Wal-Mart and none of them carried regular Rain-X. I had hoped to use that and drive the bus back to my sister's house. Well, here are some picks from outside of Wally world, notice the lack of the prerequisite snow removal systems. You are not allowed to view images. That would be great, busaholic. I need the driver's side wiper arm and the whole armature that the wiper motor connects too. If you could PM me a price, that you think is fair, I'll try and talk the Mrs. into letting me buy it.
