News:

In December 1962, Heat "exchangers" were introduced. Air was heated for use in the cabin by passing air over heated compartments instead of directly passing air that has cooled the engine into the passenger compartment.

Some time back I asked a bunch of questions about the cheaper/German door seals. OK, I went the cheaper aftermarket route. A real mistake in my opinion. This winter I will take them out and bite the bullet and get the real German replacements. To me, the aftermarket ones I got from Bus Depot (nothing against them) were of no use at all. I replaced the slider, the back cargo, and the engine hood seals with the higher priced German seals and no problems whatsoever, yet the cheaper door seals have failed my least expectations. I like to think I put them in  as best as could be. Followed all the rules and used the best adhesive.
Yet they don't conform to the door void and worse, seem to tear themselves up as they are used. I dought I've opened either door a hundred times yet the seals are rather shreaded. To be fair though, the seals as they are don't really leak right now, just look shabby.
Well that's my take anyway Smiley

Good to hear it Oly. I know it sucks to be the one to find this out, but by your experience the rest of us may be saved some heartache.

Well if it makes you feel better out here where I live close to Death Valley even the German seals only last me a year. I've tried both the cheap and the German and the heat out here just eats them up. So its the cheap ones for me.
