I'm confused -

the brake warning light stays on - in older model vdubs I've owned you can push on the bwl to test it. This one is stationary. Is it supposed to be?

I don't want to cut the dashboard for a new digital radio / cd player but the old Audiovox sux - any suggestions as to where / how to install / hide a new radio?

where's the cigarette lighter?  Don't need to light any cigarettes but might need to plug something in. Can't find it.

The guys at the body shop removed and replaced my wing window rubber for me. They didn't bother to tell me they didn't have a clue as to how to do it. Now if I open the wing window the rubber falls out. I don't have a clue as to how to do it either.  Doh!

any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated

Welcome txsurvivor. I don't know the answers to most of your questions, but I will give it a try.

1) The Radio: I placed my CD player in the glovebox, keeps it hidden and out of the way. This way would be theifs can't see it. It makes it a bit of a pain to access but if you have a remote or a passenger it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Another place that wouldn't be bad would be under the driver's seat.

2) The Cig. Lighter: On my 72 it is strapped under the ashtray, but I have seen later ones mounted under the glovebox.

Thanks for the reply. I've looked everywhere for the cig lighter. I don't think I have one. I'm focusing on the glove box for the radio. Any suggestions on how the best ways to mount it?

Well, I have a cheapy crappy radio that was given to me, so I just through it in there. If I was to mount it, I would probably use a small metal strap on the underside of the cardboard glovebox and then use some bolts to mount it. The strap would give support.

Cig lighter was an option.  Buy one at your FLAPS, along w/ an inline fuse and tap into the 12v at the fusebox.

I got a nice Sony stereo at Walmart for 65.00. and mounted it in the glovebox as others have suggested. Whast is nice it has a remote that will work from 35-50 feet away. Crank the doors open sit out around the bus and you don't have to jump up to adjust the radio works great for me
