So I got some Mercedes SUV wheels to put on my '71, they are 16 x 8 offset ET 62.  I have used a calculator to find that they are 55mm wider on the inside and 9mm on the outside.  The inside measurement doesn't concern me, I am sure there is plenty of room for that, my concern is the inside.  Anyone good with this offset stuff?  Also, in trying to figure out tire size, the stock tires are huge, 255/65-15, I definitely don't want that much sidewall, is my best bet to just go to a tire store and ask for my options, or is there a good site that can help me out with this?  Thanks.

The wheels are just like these, got the set for $95, they are in excellent shape.

Nice looking wheels....... Nice price too.. .....  I am afraid they will have way too much inset than you can fit under the front/rear of your bay...  Most of the custom Mercedes wheels have a ET45mm  and that's usually too much.... without spacers and longer studs.... problem there is then you push the wheels too far out to the fender and they won't fit..... especially a 8" wheel.... Here is a good wheel fitment guide for busses even though it for Vanagons.....  a lot of good info here.....  Thumbs Up! 1

Most of the wheels that they talk about will fit a bay too.... you only have to have the center hub enlarged and usually the lug hole enlarged.....  Thumbs Up! 1

I have a set of Mercedes wheels but decided on the wheels from www.Gowesty.com  since they were a direct fit without any mods...  102

Thanks for the info, I didn't think to look in the Vanagon section of the Samba.  I tried to read the tire sticky's and wheel info I found in the Bay forum, but didn't really fully understand what I was reading.  Looks like they will be going back up for sale since it sounds to me like it's not even worth the effort to try and fit them.
