OK I'm coming clean, I don't have a bus
I am a 20 year old generation x bus lover, i think i was just born in the wrong decade. But its always been my dream ride- not a sports car or some SUV with all the bells and whistles... a bus!
I found a 78 beauty that runs pretty well and the guys asking $1500 AND I just got my first big video job and made enough money to buy one...
the catch is my mother is not a fan of the idea... at all but I know if i don't get one now, I never will and I'm in the prime of my life.. where i am supposed to make rash decisions right? back me up guys and check out the pics, is it a good deal? its the best one I've found for the price.

Your 20, your earned money, and your dreamcar- umm... I think mom is going to have to get used to the bus, who knows she might like it.

Looks like a great buy! Is the dog included? If she kicks you out, live in the bus

Go for it Skim! Twenty is the age to make rash decisions- but this is not one of them! You can make rash decisions after youve bought a bus- theyll be plenty of time for that Id say mom will accept your bus once she sees how much you enjoy and appreciate it.

Hi Skim, Go for it, a bit of tlc and you will have a real nice bus, BUT, haggle the price down before you buy, this might help impress your mum, my own son is now on his second van,he could be wasting his cash on far worse things, get your mum to read these posts, we can turn her around for you! good luck!

I love that you care about your mom enough to worry:) But, you are 20 and well past the age of needing mom's permission so tell your mom you love her and respect her advice but you are gonna go for it and tell her (mom) that she can be the first to ride in it! GO GO GO!!! GO!!!!!!!!!!

If you are still living at home, keep it in mind that she owns the driveway and can say who and what parks there. I know it's not fair but it's her right. Good luck man. Rock on.

ya say hey mom, you raised me to be the smart and intelligent Skim302 that I am today, and you have done one hell of a bang up job, and I thank you. I am about to buy a small piece of history, a rolling bit of bygone days, and I can't wait to take you for a ride in her. when someone won't be on board with an idea, just do it first, then tell them. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission here!

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission
This was a favorite theory of the "manager" who fired my lady and I from the cafe where we worked 'til about 2 months ago. Even when it came to firing us. Better to get rid of the "problem" while the owner was gone on business, then ask for forgiveness for dumping two of the best employees later. Sad part is, it seems to have worked. Owner just said "Everyone makes mistakes, and I'm now working on the 'manager's' 'communication skills'."

That happened to me, I just parked in the street. It embarrassed my folks, they figured everybody on the street knew exactly what was going on, and assumed that they were being ass's. I was in the driveway in a matter of days. If Mom's driveway is real clean and its one of those neighborhoods with ''perfect lawns'', park it with the engine and tranny over a piece of cardboard or something. Most AC VW's tend to mark their spot, with a coin sized oil spot or two, every night. Bill
