I'm gonna guess that the second bus had just filled up with Mexican gasoline before the fire. Toot-Toot Did I say That?

I like the emergency fuel cut off idea.  That seems best.  You can do it even if your engine is just smoking and maybe avoid it bursting into flames when you open the hatch.  Cut off the gas and you have time to think...I want one.

CHANGE THOSE FUEL LINES, ALL OF THEM.

WWW
« Reply #38 on: May 26, 2008, 03:38:08 AM »

I don't think that one will be saved No. If they burn to the point that tires are popping and suspension bushings are melting, well their just gone. Replace fuel lines whenever you buy a Bus and thereafter every few years just do it again. Considering most, if not all of us, own our VW's outright. No monthly payments, no high cost new car insurance, low yearly excise tax ( for those that still have that WWII finance tax still in place ) the cost of yearly maintenance is a pittance in comparison. If you want to reduce your risk of fire, it's a small price to pay.
