Maddi has a GFCI 110 outlet under the back seat that is directly connected to the 3 prong plug on the outside.  While this is great for a campsite, I want to be able to use the outlet while driving or just not have to plug in to get electricity. I was just wondering what everyone's setup was as far as self contained power.  I would love to see pictures also.  thanks

You could put a generator on the roof, and run a cord to the inlet.   110

But really, get a power inverter with enough wattage to handle what you would need, and a battery with the amperage to power it.  You can go dual battery or stay single, with duals and a relay, you can run the aux battery down and still start with the main.

I run Optima Yellow Top single batteries paired with 400watt inverters in my buses.  Haven't had any problems starting the bus, other than after a week of camping, complete with lights and music.  And then it was just a simple push start to head out.

You can wire the inverter straight into the outlet and put ina switch, to select between "shore" and battery power.

So, uh, Dj:DjEep, Like one extra battery? More? Under the seat? On the driver's side? Where is that inverter mounted, oh inquiring minds want to know.

Never gone beyond the one battery I have. I have the plug in connection on the outside but have never used it. Backpacking candle lantern action, I avoid campsites with electrical connections to begin with. And have yet to have to push start even ditching the candles and running interior lights for a long night of reading. No stereo though.

On the duals, are you suggesting charging both batteries with the alternator?  Can it handle that output?  Or an alternate source for the aux.  102

Yes.... both batteries are charged by the engine alternator..................... depending on your model you can get a relay kit from GoWesty to hook up or use a standard battery isolator setup available at most autopart store........

I'm using a isolator since i have a GM alternator...... charges both batteries and lets you run every accessory off the aux battery without discharging you main battery.......  Thumbs Up! 1

RV Center have them too......

Nice. Can you use a generator, too, or is a generator not up to the task. By the by, love that bus in your avatar fastmc25.

Generator will work fine..... they usually don't have as high amperage as the alternators but will work....

Thanks, Clyde's a handfull ........ Thumbs Up! 1
