For plugs I recommend Bosch Supers. Don't go with the Platinums, the supers will work better.

As far as oil, I have always like Valvoline but haven't done a ton of research. My dad told me to always avoid Pennzoil for the additives the put in tends to leave a film on parts.

For an oil filter, Mahle is probably the best. But just avoid the cheap Fram at all costs. The Fram SuperGuard is good though.

No sense spending money on synthetic, as our busses need frequent oil changes.

I use Bosch plugs and copper core wires . And for oil I use Castrol 30wt in the winter and when it gets really hot I go up to 40wt .
Now that's my 2¢ worth .

Yep Bosch W8AC or NGK B6ES plug, 3/4" reach, 14mm thread.  I use Castrol 10w30 or 10w40 in the winter, HD30, HD40 or 20w50 in the summer.  You'll probably be fine with 10w30, or 20w50 if you live in a hot place.  Go Mahle or Mann on the filter, no Bosch or Fram.

Definately avoid synthetic....... it does not have the heat transfer cababilities of conventional oil that is needed on aircooled engines.

Synthetic is great for newer type "watercooled engines" but on air-cooled it's not effective and is just a costly waste.

As far as brands........ I've run Pennzoil forever and still do..... also Valvoline and Castrol in aircooled without problems...... as long as you use a "Quality brand" that your happy with and it meets the minumum use required viscosity,( i.e.... 10w-30, 30hd, 40hd, 10w-40, 20w-50).... i say go for it.... use what you like.............Just remember the oil is a major part of your cooling system.......choose wisely..... and change regularly...

Everyone has opinions about certain brands and there's been tons of research on the subject.......... here's a little help.. Thumbs Up! 1
