[November 03, 2008, 10:43:03 AM] Theizzardking: THE REASON IT MAY SHOOT OUT IS THAT THE PRESSURE CREATED UNDER THE PLUG FROM THE COMBUSTION PROCESS WAS TO GREAT TO HANDLE

Long Live the Vw's...

« on: April 13, 2008, 09:49:16 PM »

I was mowing one of my commertial properties today and a girl about 17 or so was standing at a bus stop (just down the street from a high school) and pointed to her wrist asking me if I had the time. As I came close to her I just pulled up my sleeve and let her look at my watch. She had a questioning look on her face so I shut down my mower, took off my headphones, and asked what's wrong. She said "I'm used to digital". I'm thinking to myself wow a kid can't tell time, and just tell her it's quarter to three. I get another questioning stare. After a few seconds it cklicked to me and I said it's two fortyfive. That she could understand and smiled and said thank you.
Are things really changing to the point that kids don't learn (at least) in school to tell time on a clock?
Wow maybe I am getting old Doh!...

You're right Smiley but I'm not a fan of military time. One, it's metric (well generic at least) and two, it's not American, it's NWO stuff!    You all will comply to the same time....

Is that the same thing as going into mcdonalds and your order comes to $3.26 and you give them a 5 dollar bill and a penny and they stand there with a perplexed  look and then hand you back the penny in sheer panic, giving you back your change according to what the cash register tells them to hand you?? Sometimes I just gotta wonder.............................................

I think it is all of the technology these kids are brought up with.  I say kids, I'm only 30 I know I am still young but I wasn't raised infront of the T.V. playing video games all day!

70Micro, I agree with you.  They have a cellphone with the time, a calculator and texting which totally promotes bad spelling and improper grammer.  Then they have an ipod, video games, a computer (thank God for the spell check!), and calculator(if they still even use that!).  All of these things think for you!  I never had a cellphone, ipod or personal computer and I'm only 25. I'm already talking about the good ol days... oh boy.

Al of these "conveniences" are the cause of our kids being dumbed down.
They can't think on their own and figure out problems that people with "common sense" and no (higher) education can. Eek!
