IRS/Swing axle tranny swap
« on: March 03, 2013, 09:03:57 PM »
Hey guy's, hoping one of you can answer a question for me.. I do have a '75 bus, but I also have a '59 baja that I'm currently having tranny issues with... I can get a 4 spd from a '72 Super Beetle at a good price.., my question is, can I put it in my '59 and hook up the swing axles to it??? will I have trouble hooking up the shift linkage?? The mounts are the same I think... I've allready got a 1600 in it and switched to 12V. I would really appreciate any help/advice...
Thanks :)

Nope -- you're talking 2 entirely 'different animals' -- sorry.

Here's a source for a rebuilt swing axle transmission.
