1st time bus owner/motor question/all help is appreciated
« on: February 26, 2016, 11:03:05 PM »
I just picked up a 1973 bus today.. Has the stock motor in it, but not sure it's worth fixing.. I have a 1994 Toyota pickup with a 22re motor that I'm not using. Would it work? If not, what's a good decently priced motor that you can put in this bus?

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Hello Jesse,
If it still has the 1700cc motor they can be costly to rebuild. A conversion to a water cooled can be the same.
Depending on what your plans are for this little jewel. . . There is another conversion you can do that is cheaper. Conversion to a bug motor (Type 1). There is a company that makes a fiberglass conversion for the cooling tin replacement.
I done a '73 I had once, I liked it.

But if you want to do the toy motor this site VWKD - VW http://www.vwkd.co.uk/bb/
Their platform is based on Conversion to watercooled

Good luck
