Yes, there is a way, but first you need to know if it's the steering box that's wonky, or if it's the linkage.

John Muir's book has a pretty good rundown of what you need to look for, and how the adjustment is made. It may also be covered in the Bentley book.

Bear in mind that with that old a van, the steering box itself might be worn out. If that's the case, you're looking at a fairly major expenditure of money ... roughly three hundred dollars (or twice that if the core can't be reused) plus a lot of labor ... I'm guessing four or five hours.
