I am in the process of restoring a 73 type 2 transporter and can't figure out a good way to get into the engine air intakes on the side of the body.  You are unable to remove the "grill" <bars> to get to the back surface.  Looking for some in site?  I have thought about just taping the bars off and the surrounding body and then blocking off the engine.  Then use a small sand blaster??  Any ideas?  thanks

That is how I had planned to do my '73 before I sold it. I was going to tape in some plastic to direct the media into a large coffee can for reuse.  thumb2
