With a points chase to the last show, 50 winners will be crowned 2015 National Champions at Tampa's Showtime Speedway in November. Don't miss the fun of the 16th Annual Spring Picnic. It's not just an event, it is 4 days of non-stop fun! The campout before the show actually starts Thursday April 30th with the actual show being Sunday May 3rd. Park on grass under big shady trees in a beautiful park setting. This year the event will be held in the camping area so your campsite is also your show parking space or swap space. No need to wake up Sunday morning and move to the show area! We will again be doing our all aircooled drive-in movie night with the feature presentation prepared by our movie-master- Jesus Grijalva. Just Cruizin VW club will be cooking free hot-dogs for your dining enjoyment during the movie and Wolfsburg West will be popping free popcorn for more munching fun. We will once again have slow-drags with a Beetle and Bus class. They are free to enter, LOADS of fun, and you can win a $200 prize donated by your friends at Wolfsburg West. Swap spots are available with no pre-reservation necessary. Hot-dog Fred will be on hand grilling his legendary Bratwursts and Hot-Dogs. We have a huge raffle with tons of great prizes donated by our generous sponsors. By most accounts it is the best show in California. This year we are sharing the weekend with the Inland Valley Volkswagen Club who does a great show in the Wolfsburg West Parking lot on Saturday May 2nd. There will be a caravan departing the park Saturday morning to go to this event. It is tons of fun and should not be missed.

Hows the mileage difference & condition of the older one?

Being a bus guy, I'd say keep both!

Welcome back!

I suppose that you've already made contact with the Full Moon Bus Club. They're the most active group in the US Southeast, and seem like a friendly bunch.

And there's also the Itinerant Aircooled Forum, which is a smaller, friendlier version of the Samba:

Colin Kellogg (known there and on the Samba as Amskeptic) is the founder of IAC, and has forgotten more about VWs than most people have ever learned.
Vw Bus General Forum / Re: Soundproofing my 73 bus

Hey thanks,  I know this has been a long time since i posted it and matter of fact I just posted a similiar question about the sound proofing the back wall under the bench seat.  But, as for the headliner I used this stuff I picked up at home depot called something like Quick roof or peel and stick.  It is really for rooking seams but it is the same stuff that they are using for deadening and it is cheaper.  Then I also got some of that 1 inch thick pink foam insulation and glued that up.  When the headliner goes back in the ribs from that should help hold it up and also the space between the insulation and the headline will help.  Good luck and thanks.

Hey,  I am relatively new to the site, i signed a while a go and then have dropped off because I have moved (to NC) and been really busy with other things.  But the weather is warmer and I am going to be getting the bus (73 transporter) back home.  I am in the process of restoring it.  First time at it and I started to come to this site because there were a lot of people (that were nicer) that would help out and answer questions.  When i was leaving the site it did seem like the comradery was dying out.  I will start coming back now that i am back in the restore mode.  look forward to alking to you all
Vw Bus General Forum / Insulation on the firewall inside bus
« Last post by Silver Surfer on April 22, 2015, 03:06:11 AM »
I am insulating my 73 transporter bus,  roof, walls, everywhere that i can. But I am stumped on the firewall inside the bus underneath/behind the back bench seat?  Any ideas?  I have seen where people have either built or gotten boxes/crates and put them under the seat to deaden the noise.  I was hoping to find some way to deaden the noise without doing something like that at least in the beginning.  Any ideas would be helpful.  Thanks
