Hey all! Just cracked the case so to speak and now after a good car wash, im rebuilding. The bently book says to use "sealing compound" around the case, on the case bolts, and several other things. I went to the parts store and "sealing compound" is just too broad. What do you guys use? Any comments helpful! Thanks PEace!

I use "Permatex" #2 Non-hardening on the case seams .... Sparingly.. eusa_naughty. not too much...... Actually anywhere that seals oil... i.e.  oil sump strainer gasket , oil pump, pushrod tube seals, valve covers on the valve cover side and nothing on the head side of the valve cover......

Permatex High heat copper silicone for under the cylinders to the case...... and under the large case washers...and head washers inside the valve cover Thumbs Up! 1
