Alright recently i had my heads rebuilt well i guess when they were blasted down and redone the exhaust manifold studs weren't replaced only taken out cleaned and reinstalled. The problem i have is one of them is apparently loose inside the head and will not stay tight on its threads besides removing the heads and having them redone by way of welding and re-drilling/tapping. Is there anyone who has used a high temp apoxy like JB weld or something to keep the stud in place for proper tightening? I have been thinking of using JB weld as i've heard of its use on engine blocks before not that i have ever used it in that way but am willing to try it if it saves tearing "Otis" all apart again. Any suggestions?Huh Huh

Both my buses need help with this exact thing - the 73 bay (Janis) also could use something like this for the exhaust bolts as only 1/2 of them are holding.

Well so far from everybody's reactions this seems to be a common problem.

...this seems to be a common problem.
Yep -- anyone who's run and worked on VWs (especially old air-cooled ones) has seen this problem.
You'd think fixing it would be standard procedure with any cylinder head rebuild!
