Long answer "yes" with with a "but" and a bit of reluctance.  Short answer "no".

Why not just drive the '69?

Ahh... 45

The problem with the swap is the shape of the engine bay.  The engine will fit, but the tin will not seal, and the engine will likely overheat.  You can fab or buy an adapter piece that fills the gap, but I don't remember where I saw one for sale.

with a little talent and patience it can be done. that is why DJ gave a yes/no answer. 1600 carb to 1700 carb wiring is close enough to make work.... if you have a bit of electrical talent. creative car craft makes the fiberglass "tin" for the 1600 into the type IV engine bay.

ya have to be a bit familiar with how electrics work, ya have to compare wireing diagrams between the 2 years, some color coding may be different. ya have to know how to properly splice wires. twist and tape will always give trouble later.etc....
