Ive had this problem occur on the bus- The tail light fuses blow out, I change em- after a half hour or even immediately they blow again. The one fuse that is connected to the spades gets hot and blows- the other one survives. Now I know taillights have 21 W bulbs and that the fuses should be 8 amps located far left, so im kinda puzzled. If it was an earth issue they simply wouldnt work right??  Im gonna go out later this evening to check the licence plate bulb see if thats gone and is causing too much stress on the fuses - if thats ok im kinda stuck for ideas 102

Any ideas on what could be causing this? The other fuses are fine and no electrical problems whatsoever..

got a VOM/Multimeter?  check for voltage across the fuse terminal, lights off.  That'll tell you real quick if it's a ground, which I would assume it is.

could also be a problem in one of your 30 some year old light assemblies. short between brake and tail or turn signal or short to ground.

The grounds are fine- checked them all. At first look everything seemed to be ok- I then noticed that the spades/ connectors on signals and brake lights both sides were loose and a plain old. Ive wire brushed all the spade terminals and fixed the spades so they dont slide off or sit loose- seems to have done the trick for now but I think ill go the whole hog and put new ones on there anyway.

Thanks for the help guys!
