Replaced brake drums on rear of my 68 Bus,  The ones I took off actually weren't the proper ones.  Should the brake drum slide over the brake shield or just fit against it?

All I can find is that from 68-70 models there are 2 return springs and that the rear wheel hub and brake drum are 'integral' - whatever that means.
