 Welcome jcwolf! (fellow riviera here-'73)
I'm about to pull those suckers off myself to replace the axle boots. I purchased a 46mm socket (and 3/4" bar) a bit ago for this purpose. They are for sale at midamericamotorworks.com for around $12 I believe. I've heard you need a long pipe for leverage and spray a penetrant oil on several times for a few days before. Otherwise fastmc says to cut them in half - careful not to damage the threads. (See the "Stuck castle nut" thread)
Let us know the outcome - let's see some pics if you have any!

I use this to get mine off normally....  http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jbugs.com/store/graphics/00000001/5749.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.jbugs.com/store/merchant.mvc%3FScreen%3DPROD%26Product_Code%3D5749%26Category_Code%3Dtools&usg=__an2yD5qcXzRECt5_cF1t8YGz8Ns=&h=300&w=400&sz=34&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=PJEUB6E7KESg6M:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dvw%2Baxle%2Bnut%2Btool%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1

It works great with a breaker bar and a BFH .... put loosening pressure on the breaker bar and strike the flat side of the tool............. it will get them off....... Thumbs Up! 1
